Shaped like a woman in my eyes, independent and spanning 215,000 Sq km (83000 sq mi) where you can enjoy wearing summer clothing year round. She is undeniably a beauty to be-hold, adorned in gold and diamonds. She exhibits four distinct natural regions, the flat coastal plain, the hilly sand and clay belt, the highland region and the interior savannahs that contribute to her exquisiteness, such as being fertile and possessing a wealth of natural resources. Once ruled by the Dutch, French and English; her capital city is a testimony of Dutch architecture. Her given name means “land of many waters”, with numerous rivers, creeks, beaches, and many waterfalls some unnamed, for example in the Orinduik Falls area.
Running from the top of her head through her being to the soles of her feet is the Essequibo River, the life blood of her body, with many tributaries that lead to even more mysteries and beauty, that river has- three hundred and sixty-five known islands, her children the place where most of her assets lie. The part of her I love the most.
.
These are some of the things she is bringing to the table to initiate a visit from you:
eco-tourism, cattle ranching, rodeo, safaris, mountain ranges, variety of waterfalls, including the largest one drop fall in the world-Kaieteur 715 ft, rivers to explore and swim in, jet skiing, beautiful sunrise and sunsets, regatta-boat racing, Easter weekend at Bartica, races-cars and bikes, the Amazon Rainforest, resorts that offer different activities due to where they are located, wild life/animals (some only found in this part of the world), happy and peaceful exploring for nature lovers, our Amerindians (Indigenous People), with their rich history and most of all the people who inhabit her, are wonderful, warm and friendly, known for their unraveled hospitality.
Diverse we are, off springs of six races: Amerindians, Portuguese, Africans, Chinese, East Indian and Europeans. We are mixed, our culture, religious beliefs and of course our food reflects it. It will be pleasing to your taste buds and you will be asking for “seconds”. Like every being there is negativity surrounding them, but if we focus on the positives we will see the beauty that lies in the person, which often times out weigh the negatives. I dare you experience our localese by riding on horse cart; a boom boom bus and not a “carckball” (that’s the sample of our local vernacular); a speed boat ride on the Essequibo River; if it rains, I hope you experience this: only a section of the river is raining, but as the speed boat moves a little further there is no rain, I was in awe, cause it was only raining in the middle of the Essequibo river; paddle in a canoe; enjoy seeing animals on the street like I do; take a plane/helicopter ride to view her from above; eat pepper pot, cook-up-rice, methem gee, wild meat, cassava bread, seven curry, our fruits and walk on the sea walls Sunday nights. Enjoy whatever festivities are being celebrated. Explore and enjoy the diverse beauty of my birth country, which is overlooked, a hidden gem full of life.
Mr. Lauer it is my pleasure to introduce you to the beautiful woman I was rambling about; her name is GUYANA, did I mention, she is unique because she is the only English speaking country in South America.
